Weekly Mountain Bike Ride

Shifting Gears’ Mountain Biking programs provide beginner, intermediate, and advanced riders with a safe space to explore mountain biking on the lovely local trails of Bellingham. We practice skills, familiarize ourselves with trails, meet new ride friends, and have fun!

Rides are free but space is limited. Please register in advance.

When: Our weekly mountain bike rides are on Mondays from 5-7pm. The rides are free, though we do require you to register beforehand (and donations are always appreciated).

Where to Meet: Meet at the Galbraith Mountain and Padden Trails parking lot where you'll meet the Shifting Gears' Ride Leaders. The Galbraith Parking lot has all-gendered porta potties, and the Ride Leaders will ensure you have everything you need and your bike is ready to roll before we head out.

What We'll Ride: We'll stick to some of our favorite trail routes that are accessible for everyone, with no mandatory drops or jumps on our rides.

Who: The rides are for all women, regardless of riding ability, body size, and biking anxiety. With a maximum of 10 riders plus two Shifting Gears' Leaders in each group, it is a no-drop ride and we will focus on having fun and supporting each other.

What to bring: Participants will need to bring a bike, helmet, bottle of water, and clothing that they feel comfortable biking in - plus anything else you'd like to bring!

Why: This ride is all about creating a community and taking down barriers within the sport of mountain biking. We want to create an inclusive and empowering environment that allows growth and joy.

We're in this together and have a blast! If there's anything we can do or should know to help you have your best day on the mountain, let us know. Our number one goal is always: to have so much fun!
