5th Annual

Bellingham Bike Swap

Save the date for the Bellingham Bike Swap at Boundary Bay Brewery Alley & Beer Garden on June 9, 2024!

What is the Bellingham Bike Swap?

The Bellingham Bike Swap allows the community to purchase preowned bikes or gear at a lower cost, enabling our community to experience the joys and benefits of biking. The Bike Swap is a space for community members to sell, shop, and simply share in the greatness of the Bellingham outdoor community.

How does it work?

Those looking to sell gear will drop off items on the morning of June 9th. The ‘Shop the Swap’ will be open to the community looking for bikes and biking gear. Unsold gear and checks will be picked up by the sellers that evening.

25% of each sale will be donated to Shifting Gears to help support our programs that help break barriers preventing women from experiencing the outdoors and creating a more inclusive world.

“The event has proven to be an effective way to circulate gear in the community people may no longer want or need — and an awesome place for people to purchase gear at an affordable price.”

  • Join the Set-Up Crew to ensure smooth transitions throughout the Bike Swap event, whether it's setting up in the morning, transitioning between selling and shopping, or assisting with gear and payment pick-up. Help unload equipment, set up tents, tables, chairs, and arrange bike and clothing racks as per the Layout Map. Additionally, lend a hand with signage, data collection stations, and registration setup to guarantee a seamless start to the event.

Additionally, monitor the Bike Registration area to assist with bike placement and ensure the space remains tidy and organized. During downtimes, assist the Set-Up Crew or Shifting Gears Board/Staff with various tasks as required.

Your assistance contributes to a smooth and enjoyable shopping experience for all participants.

  • As a security volunteer, your role is vital in maintaining a safe and secure environment for all attendees at the event. Your responsibilities include monitoring the premises, addressing any potential security risks or incidents, and assisting event organizers as needed. Your presence helps ensure that everyone can enjoy the event with peace of mind.

  • As a Gear Pick-Up Assistant from 6-8pm, your role is to assist the public in locating their unsold gear and helping them transport it to their vehicles. Ensure that each ticket is collected and accounted for during the process.

  • Assist Shifting Gears representatives in sorting donated gear and packing up all equipment, including bike racks and tables, for transport.
